Paula Gonzales Rohrbacher
As a survivor of clergy sexual abuse, I spoke to the US Bishops in Dallas in June 2002 at the USCCB meeting. I spoke about my own experience and asked them to adhere to a zero tolerance policy for sexual abuse of children by clergy. Here is the link to my statement: http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/child-and-youth-protection/upload/Impact-Statement-of-Paula-Gonzales-Rohrbacher.pdf
I later formed a compassionate listening group, called RUaH (Reconciliation, Understanding and Healing) for individuals sexually, emotionally or spiritually harmed by the Church.
I contributed to “Christ’s Body, Christ’s Wounds”, a book of pieces written by individuals who have been harmed by the Church but who have remained active Catholics. The book was compiled and edited by Eve Tushnet.
I am a facilitator and teacher of classes and groups for the Juneau affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
I am a lifelong Catholic, the wife of a permanent deacon, the mother of two adult children and the grandmother of a delightful 6 month old girl.
I enjoy writing and speaking and hope to be of some use in these capacities.
